National Grid – Burn Safety Training Video

Workplace Safety Video Production for National Grid

Media Stream produced this employee safety video for National Grid to demonstrate the importance of burn prevention and emergency preparedness in the workplace. The production was based on an actual burn accident involving a National Grid employee and the safety initiative that grew from the experience.

A National Grid employee who was on-site when the accident occurred developed a specialized burn kit to help employees respond quickly and effectively if a similar incident occurred. The initiative received the full support of National Grid President Chris Kelly, who recognized its potential to improve employee safety.

Client: National Grid
Industry: Energy / Utility
Location: New York
Objective: Employee safety education and burn preparedness
Services: Safety video production, dramatic reenactment, interviews, videography, directing, editing and post-production

The Challenge

National Grid wanted employees to understand both the serious consequences of workplace burn injuries and the importance of being prepared to respond when an accident occurs.

The challenge was to transform the lessons learned from a real incident into an engaging safety message that employees would remember and could apply in an emergency.

The Video Solution

Media Stream recreated the circumstances surrounding the actual workplace accident through a dramatic reenactment. The production showed how the incident occurred while providing context for the development and use of the new burn safety kit.

The video also told the story behind the initiative: a National Grid employee who witnessed the accident recognized an opportunity to improve emergency preparedness and developed a burn kit specifically for employees. With the support of National Grid President Chris Kelly, the employee’s idea became an important workplace safety initiative.

By combining a real employee experience, dramatic reenactment and practical safety information, Media Stream helped turn an individual employee’s idea into a compelling safety message for the National Grid workforce.

The Result

The completed video gave National Grid a professional employee-safety communication tool that went beyond traditional training materials. It demonstrated the consequences of a real workplace accident, explained the thinking behind the burn kit and reinforced the importance of preparation and rapid response.

Most importantly, the production helped communicate how an employee’s firsthand experience could lead to a practical safety initiative designed to help protect fellow National Grid employees.
